A new global network of laboratories for કોરોનાવાયરસ, CoViNet, has been launched by WHO. The aim behind this initiative is to bring together surveillance programs and reference laboratories to support enhanced epidemiological monitoring and laboratory (phenotypic and genotypic) assessment of SARS-CoV-2, MERS-CoV and novel કોરોનાવાયરસ of public health importance.
The newly launched network expands on the “WHO SARS-CoV-2 Reference Laboratory Network” established earlier in January 2020, with the initial objective to provide confirmatory testing to countries with no or little testing capacity for SARS-CoV-2. Since then, the needs for SARS-CoV-2 have evolved and monitoring the evolution of the વાયરસ, spread of variants and assessing the impact of variants on public health remains essential.
ઘણા વર્ષો પછી Covid-19 pandemic, WHO has decided to broaden and revise the scope, objectives and terms of reference and establish a new ‘WHO કોરોનાવાયરસ Network” (CoViNet) with enhanced epidemiological and laboratory capacities including: (i) expertise in animal health and environmental surveillance; (ii) other કોરોનાવાયરસ, including MERS-CoV; and (iii) the identification of novel કોરોનાવાયરસ that could negatively affect human health.
CoViNet , thus, is a network of global laboratories with expertise in human, animal and environmental કોરોનાવાયરસથી surveillance with the following core objectives:
- early and accurate detection of SARS-CoV-2, MERS-CoV and novel કોરોનાવાયરસ of public health importance;
- surveillance and monitoring of the global circulation and evolution of SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV and novel કોરોનાવાયરસ of public health importance recognizing the need for a “One Health” approach;
- timely risk assessment for SARS-CoV-2, MERS-CoV and novel કોરોનાવાયરસ of public health importance, to inform WHO policy related to a range of public health and medical counter measures; and
- WHO અને CoViNet ની જરૂરિયાતોને અનુરૂપ પ્રયોગશાળાઓની ક્ષમતા નિર્માણ2 માટે સમર્થન, ખાસ કરીને ઓછી અને મધ્યમ આવક ધરાવતા દેશોમાં, SARS-CoV-2, MERS-CoV અને જાહેર આરોગ્યના મહત્વના નવલકથા કોરોનાવાયરસ માટે.
નેટવર્કમાં હાલમાં તમામ 36 WHO પ્રદેશોમાં 21 દેશોની 6 પ્રયોગશાળાઓનો સમાવેશ થાય છે.
પ્રયોગશાળાઓના પ્રતિનિધિઓ 26 - 27 માર્ચના રોજ જીનીવામાં 2024-2025 માટે એક એક્શન પ્લાનને આખરી રૂપ આપવા માટે મળ્યા હતા જેથી WHO સભ્ય રાજ્યો વહેલાસર તપાસ, જોખમનું મૂલ્યાંકન અને કોરોનાવાયરસ સંબંધિત સ્વાસ્થ્ય પડકારોના પ્રતિભાવ માટે વધુ સારી રીતે સજ્જ હોય.
CoViNet ના પ્રયત્નો દ્વારા જનરેટ થયેલો ડેટા WHO ના વાઈરલ ઈવોલ્યુશન (TAG-VE) અને વેક્સીન કમ્પોઝિશન (TAG-CO-VAC) અને અન્ય પરના ટેકનિકલ સલાહકાર જૂથોના કાર્યને માર્ગદર્શન આપશે, વૈશ્વિક આરોગ્ય નીતિઓ અને સાધનો નવીનતમ વૈજ્ઞાનિક માહિતી પર આધારિત છે તેની ખાતરી કરશે.
કોવિડ-19 રોગચાળો સમાપ્ત થઈ ગયો છે, જો કે ભૂતકાળના ઈતિહાસને જોતાં કોરોનાવાયરસ દ્વારા ઊભા થયેલા રોગચાળા અને રોગચાળાના જોખમો નોંધપાત્ર છે. તેથી SARS, MERS અને SARS-CoV-2 જેવા ઉચ્ચ જોખમવાળા કોરોનાવાયરસને વધુ સારી રીતે સમજવાની અને નવા કોરોનાવાયરસને શોધવાની જરૂર છે. પ્રયોગશાળાઓના નવા વૈશ્વિક નેટવર્કે જાહેર આરોગ્યના મહત્વના કોરોનાવાયરસની સમયસર શોધ, દેખરેખ અને મૂલ્યાંકન સુનિશ્ચિત કરવું જોઈએ.
